Journey into the innermost regions of The Daily Reel's "corporate" psyche as we rant, rave, and, yes, reel about online video.

TDR to Repeat Debauchery, Good Times

Following up on the success of our last gathering, we're rallying the online video paratroopers for another night on the town, this time at the always-a-good-time Echo Park watering hole, Short Stop.

We currently have 61 confirmed "Yes"-men coming to this Thursday's shindig. That's a lot of people! I'm confident this party will be even better than the last -- and not just because Short Stop is markedly closer to my house than Barney's Beanery was, but because Warner Records has decided to co-sponsor. The folks at Warner are responsible for some really great online content and are looking to meet more of the web's brightest new talent so they can network and collaborate and all that good stuff.

Also, Short Stop has a pretty big dance floor, and you all know how online video people love to boogie...

Obsessions of the Week

As immersed as we are in the latest and greatest content coming through the web, any given week finds each of us focused on one or two specific bits of media. So each Friday, we'll try and round up what's tickling our funny bones or inner ears -- the stuff we most care about.

Last night witnessed the premiere of what I'm hoping will be summer's hottest reality show -- it's certainly the only TV I plan to care about for the next three months. What is this wonder? A little romp they call PIRATE MASTER.

Michelle doesn't believe in stealing music, so when Rhianna's "Umbrella" became available on iTunes this Tuesday, she finally became able to bump it 24/7.

Meanwhile, our office is a little light on the testosterone this week, which is probably why Spencer can't stop singing a little tune by KT Tunstall:

And no work day is complete until Alex has reminded us about a little video about the pug who thinks he's a blender.

Who knows what we'll be obsessed with next week? It's a whole five days of possibility.

More to See

As you can see, we rolled out a new design for the home page of The Daily Reel. We want to make it even more obvious that The Daily Reel is where you can come to find the best videos, the most talented creators and the videos that people will be talking about. With more than 250,000 videos being uploaded everday to the various hosting sites on the internet, we strive to find the videos that are worth watching - helping you to connect with the content creators. In the six months or so that we have been live, we have discovered some great material and some very talented content creators. We're also proud to point out that some of these creators have been discovered further and found deals, agents and work. This world of online video continues to evolve at breakneck speed. We look forward to helping you to make sense of it. Over the next few weeks, we'll be rolling out some new sections that will make it even easier to find good material and connect with the content creators.

Daily Reel Gets It Retreat On

For a whole 8-hour workday, we holed up in Chateau Marmont to brainstorm, innovate, and pound shots of Patron.

There are some big changes brewing here at The Daily Reel. Though we'd love to gush about every last detail of our soon-to-launch beauty makeover (OMGZ, we're gonna be soooooo cute!), we can't really tell you a damn thing until it's live. But rest assured that we Jeff, Jamie, Alex, Liz, Spencer, and Michelle all participated in a non-stop meeting of the minds this Tuesday, and it was glorious...

Jeff tells us what's up.

Jamie and Delyle at the round table.

Spence and Michelle and PATRON!
