Heinz Asks Creators to "Top This!"
By
Liz Miller
Entries have been flooding in for the Heinz Top This Contest, which invites filmmakers to contribute their own spin on a new commercial for the classic ketchup brand. I don't claim to have seen all four thousand of the entries, but having watched a few I'm prepared to say that it's a helluva talent pool. Here are my favorites, but I don't have too much of a say: semi-finalists are being determined by YouTube rating. So if you like what you see here, click on the video to rate it on the website. On the internet, at least, democracy has a chance at working.

Simply gorgeous cinematography captures the quirky nature of the American road stop, from sea to shining sea.

Ketchup Masterpiece
Popular speed food artist EclecticAsylumArt uses his talents and Heinz to copy the Mona Lisa in amazing detail. |

A Culinary Work of Art
Simple in execution, this charming animation shows the conveyor belt that brings great ketchup to you. I most enjoyed the little robot arms.

Naked Food
This entry gets pretty racy -- but the use of reverse motion works surprisingly well. |

It Just Makes Everything Better
The energy and humor of this entry is really appealing, as is the acting. Who knew all the things that Heinz could do? |
"It Just makes everything Better" is great.
I made one with my mom too:
