'80s Teen Sex Comedies
It may be bad now, but it still ain't the '80s. Long before American Pie brought back the horny high-school/college flick with a vengeance, there was a time when Jordaches flew off nubile sophomores every Friday, like clockwork. I may be biased, but today's crop of losers-get-laid movies don't hold a candle to their spiritual godparents. Out of respect for our elders, we present a sampling of 80s teen sex comedies. Without them, there'd be no Superbad.
It sure wasn't easy picking just five -- The Sure Thing and Little Darlings, for example, didn't make the cut. For that, we apologize.

Fast Times at Ridgmont High (1982)
Yeah, I know, this Amy Heckerling classic is much more than a sex comedy. It's social commentary, it's drama, it gets a little dark, etc. But the scene where Judge Reinhold (wearing his pirate-guy delivery-man outfit) gets busted by Phoebe Cates while jerking off to a fantasy of Phoebe Cates is comic perfection. That one minute is what got Fast Times a spot. |

Revenge of the Nerds (1984)
I personally think that this might be the best studio comedy made in the 80s. That, plus the fact that it's got characters named Booger, Ogre, and Wormser. Lewis (poist coitus with a cheerleader, wearing a Darth Vader outfit) said it best: "All jocks think about is sports. All nerds think about is sex." |

Weird Science (1985)
An all-time classic, without question. Two geeks with bras on their heads create Kelly LeBrock in a computer. Hijinks ensue. Bill Pullman has never surpassed his work as Wyatt's evil older brother Chet, and Downey Jr. was the perfect effete, wisecracking bully. It may not be politically correct, but Anthony Michael Hall's drunken riff in the blues bar is a true comic gem. Maybe my favorite John Hughes movie. Maybe. |

Risky Business (1983)
It's really, really hard to remember that Tom Cruise was once sort of cool. And there's no better evidence than his work as Joel, the scheming rich kid from the Jersey suburbs who becomes a pimp (and falls in love with Rebecca De Mornay's hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold) while his parents are out of town. The original score by Tangerine Dream is amazing, as is Booger from Revenge of the Nerds, Bronson Pinchot, and Joey Pants. |

Porky's (1982)
Directed by the late, great Bob Clark, this pic about a group of wildly oversexed kids in 1950s Florida was the American Pie of its day. Plus it's got a very young Kim Cattrall, who was already perfecting her fake onscreen orgasm. |
