Comcast To Launch Online Video Portal; Disney Will Co-Promote It: Report
So reports a BusinessWeek story: Comcast is soon expected to announce a new TV portal, code-named C-TV, that Disney will help promote through the use of film and TV clips that Comcast would use online.
This follows the deal between
Comcast and Disney recently renegotiating carriage of Disney channel,
and Comcast’s buyback of E Networks. The deal gave Comcast extensive
VOD rights to Disney content, as well as the use of Disney video clips
on Comcast.net.
But this project is bigger, the story says: Down the road, the two
companies may work more closely together to provide ABC, Disney
Channel, and other kinds of programs for the portal as well...also,
Disney is expected to help Comcast test the notion of showing movies on
demand at the same time the movies are available in DVD stores...
