So for The Daily Reel,
Outage '06 was a big, big deal -- we were slow, clunky, and bored. But
we're an online publication devoted to broadband video -- what
surprised me was the media-wide hubbub surrounding YouTube's downtime.
Outlets from across the news spectrum covered the event with baited
breath -- my Google News reader was awash in what seemed like hourly
updates -- and the general tone of coverage was akin to that certain,
somber voice usually reserved for natural disasters, with everyone
