Isn't this the Guy who Broke into an all Male Prison Facility

Now I'm sure he was dropping soap to get out.

I love Prison Break, but I'm going to love it more knowing he used to be a cheerleading instructor who is now on the lamb. I like to believe that actors' characters make one big journey; gay-ish cheerleading coach, turns engineer, turns escape artist is a better story than both shows.

This clip from the short lived WB television show Popular, features Wentworth Miller taking over the high school cheerleading squad. Hosted to YouTube, this clip has been making its round on Perez Hilton and other gossip websites.

Personally, I like how YouTube lets you see all the embarassing and bad shows that your now-favorite-famous-hunk used to be in, but at the same time, I kind of feel bad for him. He's got all this fame and the ladies (and men if you believe the tabloids) love him, and here we are laughing... isn't that kind of cruel?

Wentworth Miller in Popular Clip

Posted by Voncile Mayes at 10:20AM September 28, 2006
Why would you lower this site to Perez Hilton's level?

I find it difficult to believe that in this day and age people still think that the worse thing someone can be called is gay; that an actor can no longer do his job by portraying a gay character without negative fallout.

If Mr. Miller is gay than that is his very personal and private business. Perez Hilton insinuating as much in an effort to "out" Mr. Miller under the guise of "Gay Empowerment" is just distasteful and dishonest.

Shame on you for furthering Perez's agenda.

quality shines through popular propaganda

I do see your point here. But for the record, to build popularity on the personal lives for others is not what The Daily Reel is about. This article in my opinion has less to do with the personal life of the actor himself, and instead the fact that viewer webwide are eatting it up.

This article raises a point that user-generated sites such as YouTube allows the populous to see the entire career of an actor. An actors career can now be track online and should be accountable for every role that that play. This is different from the days when a made for tv movie role was lost in the network celluliod closet. Thus, the early work of Wentworth and many other actors has resurfaced on the web, and this makes every role that they have played a part of how the public recieves them.

I don't care if as a person is gay or not. But the acting in this Popular clip, is not the quality I'd expect from Wentwoth and I feel as if he is overacting to a fault. Even if Wentworth "came out" tommorow I would have the same opinion. And for that reason, YouTube has educated me and changed my opinion of the actor.

did you even watch Popular

if you did then you would know that 99.9% of the show was overacted and/or ridiculously written. because it was all a parody of high school life and high school shows.

also
1. Wentworth has nothing to be ashamed of by doing the role. He was a young, newbie actor that needed money and exposure. Just because it's something that was silly doesn't make it something to mock.

2. just because he played a character with gay overtones doesn't make him gay. get over it. IF he is and chooses not to pull an Ian McKellan, so be it. it's his life. but his comments and companions indicted he is not gay, so just take it as it is and reserve the right to get pissy on him when there's actual proof he lied.

it's been awhile

I'll admit I definately haven't seen Popular since it aired, though I did see several episodes when the show premiered. Looking back, your point in valid, the show was dramatic and "ridiculously written". So maybe out of context of its original format, I should not judge acting talent. But the rest still hold true.
