DEMETRI MARTIN ADDS INTERWEB TO LIST OF CONQUESTS
By industry standards, Demetri Martin is about as hot as it gets rights now.
The 33-year-old law school dropout first got noticed for his slacker stand-up style (he's been compared to Steven Wright, among others), before landing a gig as a staff writer for Conan O'Brien and then becoming the latest Daily Show darling. This year, he sold two comedy pitches to Hollywood studios for big money, and will act in both films if they're made.
The latest addition to Martin's resume is the Web series Clearification, and it's easily one of the best things we've come across in a while. Boasting astonishingly high production values for a web series, Clearification stars Martin as a corporate worker whose all-consuming need to win at all costs has begun to get the best of him. Stylistically, the shorts seem familiar -- there are distinct similarities to both the work of Wes Anderson and indie hero Andrew Bujalski -- but ultimately Clearification boasts a crisp, original style all its own. There's a lot of Martin to digest on the Web, so here's a list of links to start with: Clearification Martin's MySpace profile Martin on Wikipedia. Enjoy.
