New Rehearsals.com Platform for Emerging Artists on Joost
CenterStaging Corp.'s rehearsals.com and Joost are partnering up to create a branded channel for unsigned musicians and performers to show off their talent in front of a global audience. Meanwhile, an article in Marketwatch notes that Viacom has begun making more of its content available on Joost.

The rehearsals.com channel will provide free, streaming video content of these artists, as well as increase access to CenterStaging's footage of rehearsals by major recorders like Macy Gray, Elliott Yamin and Michael Buble. According to a press release, the increased rehearsals.com footage uses "up to 16 robotically-controlled cameras and 48 microphones
with up to 96 individual channels of audio." Here are some quotes from the release:
“Joost represents
an amazing new advancement in the future of online television,”
says Michael Sandoval, Executive Vice President, CenterStaging. “Our
content gives a unique perspective of artists at work on this extensive
distribution channel and will give consumers exactly what they are
looking for, in this new age of media content.”
“Joost offers music properties like rehearsals.com the opportunity to reach a significantly expanded audience,” said Yvette Alberdingk Thijm, Executive Vice President, content strategy and acquisition for Joost. “Rehearsals.com programming will come to life through the interactivity, high-quality viewing and community experiences enabled by Joost.”
While its relationship with YouTube is -- obviously -- strained, Viacom has also recently been putting more of it's content onto Joost, according to Marketwatch.
A new version of the free Joost software with programming from Viacom networks Comedy Central, VH1, MTV and Logo network was released on Tuesday. A Viacom spokesman said to expect much more in the coming months, as called for by an agreement Viacom struck with Joost earlier this year. The Joost/Viacom deal is part of jockeying and side choosing as entertainment giants explore using the Internet to distribute their materials.
