TheStreet.com CEO: Video Ad Demand 'Exceedingly High'
During a conference call for the company's 2006 Q4 earnings statement, Thomas Clarke, the company's chief, said that the trends in online video consumption continue to "astound" him. He characterized video as a "land grab" in 2007, and said "we're going to do everything we can to get a good piece of that pie."
In the conversation, reproduced in part on Seeking Alpha, Clarke touted the belief that the trend toward online video ads will continue for a while, though eventually demand will be tamped down as others produce siilar content.
CFO Eric Ashman: With respect to our video content specifically, in the fourth quarter
alone, we created 811 videos across our 12 video channels, an increase
of 21% from the third quarter. We served more than 8 million videos
views in the fourth quarter, an 80% sequential increase from the third
quarter. Video advertising revenue accounted for 7.1% of total advertising revenue for the quarter, up from 4.4% in the third quarter of 2006.
