YouTube Gives McDonald's Its Break Today
McDonald's is getting viral, and we're not talking about e. coli poisoning. Recently, the globalized giant announced that they would offer featured front page spots on YouTube for filmmakers who make the best film about their new sandwich - the unfortunately titled, Honey-Mustard Chicken Snack Wrap.
The contest and campaign, entitled "It's Your Break," will no doubt consume much of YouTube's adspace, and three ads have already been running on national television. The chosen video will run on Feb. 19.
MediaPost's Marketing Daily had this from a McDonald's spokesperson.
"This is an effort to honor the YouTube
community and the millions of talented video directors that aren't
afraid to share their talent with the world..."
Look for more companies to follow McDonald's lead, as viral marketing continues to subconsciously infiltrate our minds and wallets. Will the next Ghetto Big Mac find its way into the mainstream?
