All the Cool Mags Are Doing It: 'Vice' Launches Online Video Channel
Gizmodo reports that the hipster magazine now has a site specifically devoted to collecting the kind of content that you might enjoy if you live in Williamsburg or Silverlake. Between "band practice," waiting tables at the local vegan restaurant, and pursuing meaningless post-modern sexual encounters who has time to hunt through YouTube to find cool videos, you know?
The site, VBS.TV, offers more or less what you might expect. Gizmodo gives this particularly upbeat assessment of the content: "Only highbrow entertainment like David Cross making fun of some guy's tattoos, a documentary on a cute female taxidermist, and a series of documentary shorts by Jackass videographer and Spike Jonez/Michel Gondry documentarian Lance Bangs. So, basically, these guys know their audience."
Seems the site is now done after it's first day. Here's the editor's note posted this afternoon:
We think that VBS Day One went pretty great. Pretty fucking great, actually. We’re “chuffed” with it, as our British brothers and sisters would say.
So please, if you like it here, go to the VBS Forums and give us some feedback. We really do all gather around the computer together and read it and giggle and high-five each other. We especially liked this post yesterday from user Kevin Wilkins: “VBS is like ten hammers all hitting the nail on the head at once.” Thanks, Kevin. We like you.
Believe it, we’re listening. Tell us what you like and what you’d like to see us do in the coming months.
