Asterpix - in video hyperlinks (aka hypervideo)
Up to Community BlogAsterpix - in video hyperlinks (aka hypervideo)
I recently came across this company, Asterpix (hypervideo for All) that has their own video player that allows you to create hot spots within your videos footage which you mouse over to reveal more information kind of like inline video ads but more interactive.
Essentially it allows you to create hyperlinks within your videos by defining a hot spot over moving or stationary objects within the video (think product placement) . The hot spots are shown to the viewer by a flashing circle. When these hot spots are moused over the video pauses to reveal more information, tags and links about the object in question. You can have more than one hot spot in your video and you can even test it out using your own videos (just search for your video on the asterpix site). Is this the future of product placement and monetizing of video? What do you think?
This sounds great. A few months ago, I was trying my hardest to figure out how to make a clickable podcast with HREF tracks in Quick Time Pro, and could never get it to work. I did a bit of research, and apparently the newer versions of Quick Time Pro don't want you to it.
The idea was, when I was talking about a specific clip, you could click on the video, and it would bring you to where you could watch the entire video.
I'll check this program out to see if it works. Thanks!
Asterpix is very simple to work out. I had a test video created using one of my own videos within ten minutes of trying to work out how to create one. The only downside is that you have to use the asterpix player for the links to work but once the system is monetized this becomes less of an issue (and of course this isn't an issue at all if you don't monetize your video in the place).
I couldn't get their player to embed on this site either...don't know why but it should embed okay on any site that permits html/flash embeds.

I was trying to place it in my original post so that people could see the video in action. Didn't seem to want to co-operate at the time and I couldn't be bothered messing with it. This site is clunky at the best of times (it's the only site online that completely freezes my browser momentarily each time a new page is loaded or refreshed - annoying!).
