Best Formats for Uploading to Web

Categories: Online Video

hey all, question: what's the best format for uploading material to the web? I've been using a primitive iMovie program on a Mac and the high quality quicktime file is rather huge, but the next level down isn't good enough? Should I convert the files to something other than quicktime? Thanks.

Daily Reel Comedy: Behind The Scenes Comedy

There's a lot of different ways to make your mark in the world of online comedy, but it seems like the key to really standing out (besides being really freakin' funny) is to take a different approach from the kind of material that's already out there. A great example of this is the Patrice Oneal podcast, which launched a couple months ago.

Unlike most video podcasts, each episode of Patrice's show doesn't feature a sketch - it features the making of a sketch. And the behind the scenes antics of Patrice and his crew are consistently more hilarious than most regular sketches you'll ever see. Check it out....

Daily Reel Comedy: Allow myself to introduce...myself

Hey Comedy peoples…

Welcome to the brand spankin’ new Daily Reel Comedy crew blog. This crew has been created for all of you who make funny videos – or at least try to. I’ll be your host and you can look forward to hearing from me just about every day on the latest and greatest in the world of online comedy videos as well as tricks of the trade and other assorted nonsense.

To kick things off, I guess I should tell you a little about myself. In addition to my new responsibilities as the Daily Reel’s comedy kingpin, I am the “brains” behind WhipItOutComedy.com – a site that regularly features some of the funniest videos on the web every single day (except for the days where we feel lazy).

I’m also a partner in Take The Stairs Productions, a production/management company that produces movies, TV, online series, live comedy tours, and manages comedians.

Anyway, I hope to make this crew blog a daily must-read for comedy content creators (and buyers) so in order to do that, I’d love to hear from some of you about the kinds of things you’d like to see blogged about. Feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a message to let me know what you’d like to see more or less of as we get going. Thx!

Podcasters Unite: Podcast Distribution

So here's the latest Daily Reel Podcast. Larry Milburn, who is currently directing, just took over editing.
He did a great job, and I went ahead and started posting everywhere I usually do. But I'm curious where else I can be posting. I currently post to: blip.tv, livevideo, youtube revver, vodpod, facebook, veoh, and zannel. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS???

I Love My iPhone: My Top Five Favorite Features

1. Cover Flow - running my finger across my albums is pretty dang cool.

2. Email a Picture - the animation that takes my picture out of my library and into an email is what iPhone is all about. Finesse.

3. Visual Voicemail - Two women's voices I will never have to hear again: The robot lady who says "you have 3 new messages," and my mother. Just kidding mom, I love you.

4. The way Contacts works with Google Maps - being able to click on a contact's address and seeing their house, or adding an address to a contact. So easy.

5. The Keyboard - I know this is a hotly debated issue, but I speed on this thing after 2 days mostly due to the awesome predictive text.

What are your favorite features?
