The Extraordinary Tourist

I reely (mis-spelling intended) don't know what to make of this site but now I'm here, thanks to Nalts and his blog mentioning this site I may as well introduce myself.

I am The Extraordinary Tourist, otherwise known as TET. I'm based in South Australia, where I create art, write and make short videos. My videos are predominantly about art including work in progress films, art comedy and art business (with the occasional puppet comedy video thrown in).

I do just about everything in my low budget pieces created with the cheapest of web cams and a dinosaur of a laptop (though fortunately it's still a youngish dinosaur).

I have no idea how this 'Link to video' box below the comment box works or where it will place the link to my video. If you do and know where to find the link, click it and be rewarded with my latest art video.

Maybe I'll talk to you soon.

We all have questions about what we can and can't use when it comes to online video. What constitutes fair use? The idea here is to create a discussion about these issues. People can ask questions and others can voice their opinions. Please join and contribute to the dialog.

What do you think the funniest video online is? Enter the url (not the embed code) for the video in the box, and we'll all have a great laugh. I gotta go with "Late Date" by Brad Neely. I've seen it nearly 50 times and it's still subtle and broad enough to make me laugh. "What's up chickens?"

Making Funny: A Sketch Comedy Crew: Re: Does length matter?

Can online comedy stay funny for more than 3 minutes? It's hard to keep an audience of one engaged when your video is long. I've found I've had the best results from shorter vids, although as the medium of online vid moves forward it seems like people's patience might grow. Adult swim already cut comedy run-time by a half, I really hope the future isn't just 1 minute long installments. Then what will separate us from the commercials? Capitalism should be destroyed, and communism should reign. Have I said enough?

REELEDin is NOW!

Hello online filmmakers and watchers, and welcome to REELEDin! My name is Spencer Somers, the managing editor of REELEDin, and I speak for the whole staff of The Daily Reel when I say, we are incredibly excited to have you here. This site was built with the idea in mind that online video is as legit a form of media as film or TV, and getting paid for it is not that far off, in fact for a lot of people, it's now.

REELEDin puts you, the user, in a unique spot to schmooze and connect with your peers, as well bump elbows with industry elite, and corporate bigwigs. Right now, these upper crusters are looking towards you online filmmakers to bring their products and projects towards a new resonance. Old media is flailing, new media is growing.

At REELEDin, you will be at the epicenter of this quake, but like college or relationships, it depends solely on what you make of it. Filmmaking has never had a community, or dare I say it, a commune, where filmmakers can work together to help each other improve and play show and tell to specifically those who matter. This isn't YouTube; this isn't about getting a million views, though please do! This is about business and artistic development.

To all the filmmakers who wish they could find the camaraderie of Spielberg, Coppola Scorsese and Lucas, or Cuaron, Innaritu, and Del Toro, this is really your chance. Find your favorite filmmakers on REELEDin, add them as contacts, invite them to a crew, start talking about eachother's work, start discussing possible collaborations...Anything is possible.

Well, I'm really, really excited about this, if you can't tell. If you guys have any questions ever, don't hesitate to message me at my sheet, or post to the community blog. I'll be reading and watching everything!

Best of luck to everyone, and thanks for being part of this experiment.
