Grrl Crew: Un-Horror Stories
So, I'm sure that we all have no shortage of horror stories about being a woman on set, but what have you found to be the benefits of being a production grrl*? As the only female crew member on a low-budget pilot shoot, for example, I was very popular among the teen girl cast -- because I was the only person they felt comfortable asking for feminine hygeine products. What other advantages have you found, by virtue of your gender?
*grrl, I know, is so 1997 Girl Power a term. But darn, it's fun to say!

Free Party and Student Films This Thursday
Where are all your favorite Daily Reel editors and friends going to be this Thursday? If they're lame: at home watching ER reruns. If they're awesome: the Student Films Across America screening at Cinespace, sponsored by Revver and promising a fun night of music and film. More details here -- hope you can make it!
Working for the Web
Our filmmakers use 3-chip DV cams like the DVX100, etc., to make the videos. Most use Final Cut or Avid to edit.
Here's one of the many videos we've been creating worldwide, shot in South Africa.
You Have To Go Home Again
Am leaving Miami and returning to Philadelphia to supervise the care of my elderly parents.
Left Philly in 1964 and spent 40 years in Manhatten. Co founded Weiss/Watson and sold it in 1986 to BBDO. The story gets more dramatic---but that is not why I post.
Philadelphia???
I do not even know where to eat. Where to drink. Where to chat. Where to hang out?
OK, I'm not a kid, but I am single and like to party.
Can someone help out? I am driving and expect to arrive August 8th.
Daily Reel Comedy: Daily Reel Comedy Hits Myspace
Hey comedy lovers, just wanted to invite you all to join us on our new Daily Reel Comedy myspace page. Think of it as our home away from home. Or our weekend getaway. Or our vacation digs. Or our myspace page. Whatever.
Daily Reel Comedy: One In A Wicked Pissah Million
We don't know the exact number, but it's safe to say there are millions of video blogs out there. It's also safe to say that about 99.9% of them suck. Big time. But...every once in a while you come across one that is genuinely funny and that's the case with Fitzy's Wicked Pissah Webcast.
Starring comedian Nick Stevens as Fitzy (or at least a guy that looks suspiciously similar to Nick), Fitzy's Wicked Pissah Webcast features the ultimate Boston sports fan ranting, raving, drinking and burping about all things Boston sports. He even throws in the occasional movie review and social commentary. It's a great video blog, always funny even if you're not from Boston. And if you are from Boston....well, it has to be the greatest site on the Internet.
