Up to REELEDinDistribution: Compression for YouTube
There was a post on the CrunchGear blog that Alex found that I find particularly helpful, and I'm sure the vast majority of you will too!
There are specific How-To instructions on compressing your video to get the most out of posting on YouTube.
Check it out!
Distribution: My First Look- Film Gravity
"Filmmakers in unity. Building networks. Grounding community. Sharing perspectives. Seeing their ideas come to life. In this new global village of world cinema a revolution takes hold. Interacting minds. Insights abounding. Finding fruitfully financing. Distribution possibilities unfurling. Create a connection.
Gravitate to the center and sing your story."
It's still a little to early to tell how powerful a tool Film Gravity is going to be. Just out of Beta, it is another profesional networking site. What sets it apart are the tools that they are developing.
- Job posting, casting calls , and events- fairly standard
- Film Market- "a shop window of your projects for distribution"; similar to what inDplay is doing (http://www.indplay.com/) and Withoutabox (http://www.withouthabox.com/) is moving toward.
- Film Finance- "List you film for Finanace - FilmGravity Finance Network is designed to help filmmakers connect with potential film financing for their "
This site is SO new, there are hardly any posting. In fact one of our films is the third ( of three) listed in the Film Market at the time this is being written. On the other hand, since signing up, I've gotten new network requests nearly everyday. The say it's not what you know, it's who you know. While it maybe another networking site Film Gravity, with the atmosphere that is being created and the functions the are being built may prove to be a worthwhile professional meeting place.

SOLAR KITTY CATMAS CARD
Here in this installment of Solar Kitty miss Georgia begs for salmon on a stick instead of last years fruitcake.
Starting Out: help needed
First time posting here and just getting started with creating short format work to upload (some of the work I've found on this site has been inspirational/instructional). Have a few questions on the business side of things that perhaps someone can chime in on...
--These aggregation sites like Tubemogul and others; is it really worth the time to try and push your work to as many sites as possible? I understand exposure is important - but is there a such a thing as over exposing a video/your work if it's not standard faire?
--For those of us that are looking to promote our spec work, and perhaps get a job from all of this blood, sweat, and typing - how else are people finding us "guns for hire" ? Are you guys using listing sites - and which ones? I've heard of friends getting work from listing themselves on productionpoint.com and kemps, and some others...anyone have suggestions (particularly if any of these resources have international reach)?
Thanks in advance for your input,
Jay Davis
Distribution: DVDs On Demand (CreateSpace)
Back in the glory days some of you may remember that MP3.com had a CD on demand service where you could upload your music tracks and art work and they would take care of producing one-off copies of your CD for customers who ordered through their site. It was a great little no hassle way for independent artists to be able to sell their music with no overhead; my "A Didgeridoo Christmas" did quite well seasonally, but I digress.
It seems that CreateSpace.com is doing the same thing with CDs as well as DVDs and books. And what's more is they're owned by Amazon.com which means that not only can you create your own online store to sell DVDs through your site but your titles will also be available on Amazon.
Is this all too good to be true? Cut out the middle man and sell your videos directly to your audience with no overhead? If anybody has had any experience with https://www.createspace.com please share!

Today post is not about the privacy feature but instead, it is all about Zannel Widget. You can embed the Zannel Widget anywhere that coding are accepted such as your myspace page or your blogs and etc...The Zannel Widget is pretty cool I must say, and I am not saying this because I am a Zanneler, but it saves me time to upload pictures and videos to every social sites or blogs I belong to or have. I would just have to upload the pictures and videos to my Zannel channel, and my Zannel Widget will automatically update itself. For a preview to how the Zannel Widget looks like and how it works, go to http://humanitygreatestchallenge.blogspot.com/

Daily Reel Comedy: Keep It F'n Simple, Stupid
Wanna get yourself an "easy" 300k views on Youtube?
Here's all you have to do: get yourself booked at the Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival, record a song that puts a profanity-laced spin on a classic REM tune, shoot a video for that song featuring a whole bunch of other funny people you meet in Edinburgh, and release. Oh yeah, it doesn't hurt to be musical comedy gurus Stuckey and Murray as well.
