Distribution: Clip Blast

So I'm testing out ClipBlast.

You submit your RSS feed, then you can create a 1-click button to post on your blog, or where ever.

The front page boasts full episodes of NCIS, lots of National Geographic clips, MSN:Entertainment, and even a feed from YouTube's political channel, Citizen Tube.

I get the feeling my clip will get lost in the shuffle, but what's wrong with one more place to post your RSS feed.

Daily Reel Comedy: Get Your Shecky On

If you're even remotely interested in doing anything related to comedy or being funny, then you should probably check out Shecky magazine. The site, run by comics Brian McKim and Traci Skene does a great job covering the comedy biz (particularly standup) and they've even now started to create some of their own videos such as this one which finds them attempting to re-create a classic John Lennon/Yoko Ono magazine cover photo.

Online video goes hyperlocal

I'm sure a lot of you out there are doing commercial production either as a focus, or at least as a way to pay the bills between your passion projects. The cool thing about commercial video on the Web is that it works well as an unscripted doc, is actually interesting to watch and can be made by any filmmaker with a 3-chip DV cam and a good editing program. No more studios -- even natural light works most of the time. Citysearch.com is one site that's bringing Web video advertising hyperlocal and doing it with style. All the videos on Citysearch are shot by TurnHere filmmakers. Also, here's another sample of great commercial Web video produced by TurnHere.

Where are all your favorite Daily Reel editors and friends going to be this Thursday? If they're lame: at home watching ER reruns. If they're awesome: the Student Films Across America screening at Cinespace, sponsored by Revver and promising a fun night of music and film. More details here -- hope you can make it!

Student Films Across America - Free screening/party at Cinespace this Thursday

Revver is sponsoring the Student Films Across America Los Angeles screening/awards event, taking place this Thursday, August 2nd at 7 p.m. at Cinespace in Hollywood. The event is free and will feature live music and high-quality student shorts. Come out and meet other LA-based independent creators and support student film!

In case you're not familiar, SFAA is a student-organized traveling film festival that showcases really impressive student short films on big screens across the country. The project is super ambitious and is the meaning of DIY awesomeness - they've managed to hit just about everywhere on nothing but a shoestring budget and a lot of hard work. The embedded vid is from their road blog, and you can check out some of the shorts here.

More info on the venue and the selected shorts for that night can be found here. Hope to see everyone there!

Daily Reel Comedy: Cube News

As our Daily Reel Comedy crew continues to grow, I thought it would be a good idea to start featuring some of the work from some of our crew members. First up, is this video from Kim Waldauer's Cube News series which should ring true to many of you that are slaving away in an office cubicle somewhere right now.

If you'd like to see one of your hilarious videos featured here, then make sure you join the Daily Reel Comedy crew. Oh, and make sure that you create funny videos. And by that, I mean videos are actually funny as opposed to videos that your friends tell you are funny because they don't want to hurt your feelings. It's a fine line...

Hey gang, Tyler here, just putting out the call to any local Montreal area moving picture folks. Let's get to know each other and each other's work and start making use of this tool TDR has provided for us.

And equally to anyone who wants to know more about the city or who's planning a visit - you can't sleep on my couch but I can help guide you through the bizarre place that is Quebec.
