Distribution: 9 in 1: Check out TubeMogul

I'm sure we all know about Youtube. I'm also usre that we all heard of one of two out of the other hundreds of video sites.

Anyway, I read an article that took the position that YouTube is acutalluy the worst place to get exposure. I've since read other article arguing the same point. Basically, Youtube is just oversaturated. It kinda makes since. Think about it, if you were running and ad, would you only air it on one channel. A better way to put it is that posting EXCLUSIVELY on YouTube is bad. A better strategy is to post on multiple sites. Enter Tubelmogul...

"TubeMogul is a free service that provides a single point for deploying uploads to the top video sharing sites, and powerful analytics on who, what, and how videos are being viewed. "

I've been using it for a while now and I have to say I have noticed an increase in hits. First and foremost its nice to be able to upload once rather than 9 different times. The other thing I like is that some of the sites are monetized ( i.e. XX # of views generated ad revenue). It's got a nice reporting function and metrics. If you're not farmiliar with it you might want to have a look...

On Thursday, October 18 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. Revver will be kicking off its screening series with a screening and reception at the super sleek Goethe Institut in Los Angeles. It will be a night of quality online video and quality people, joining together to celebrate creativity and each other - so come play with us!

Because it's October and because it's the Goethe, there will be light fare and plenty of libations in honor of Oktoberfest. On a completely different cultural note, the theme for this screening is scary videos, in anticipation of Halloween.

Space for the event is limited, so please let us know if you plan to attend by leaving a comment on the public evite for the event.

Have you seen the tour of the iPhone?

It looks incredible. They make the point that it is the best phone, the best ipod ever, etc. And based on this tour, I have to agree with them. Plus, they have picked up 10,000 videos from YouTube.

Starting Out: help needed

First time posting here and just getting started with creating short format work to upload (some of the work I've found on this site has been inspirational/instructional). Have a few questions on the business side of things that perhaps someone can chime in on...

--These aggregation sites like Tubemogul and others; is it really worth the time to try and push your work to as many sites as possible? I understand exposure is important - but is there a such a thing as over exposing a video/your work if it's not standard faire?

--For those of us that are looking to promote our spec work, and perhaps get a job from all of this blood, sweat, and typing - how else are people finding us "guns for hire" ? Are you guys using listing sites - and which ones? I've heard of friends getting work from listing themselves on productionpoint.com and kemps, and some others...anyone have suggestions (particularly if any of these resources have international reach)?

Thanks in advance for your input,

Jay Davis

Distribution: DVDs On Demand (CreateSpace)

I'm usually a little late to pick up on new things but I found out about CreateSpace.com last week and it looks a little too good to be true...

Back in the glory days some of you may remember that MP3.com had a CD on demand service where you could upload your music tracks and art work and they would take care of producing one-off copies of your CD for customers who ordered through their site. It was a great little no hassle way for independent artists to be able to sell their music with no overhead; my "A Didgeridoo Christmas" did quite well seasonally, but I digress.

It seems that CreateSpace.com is doing the same thing with CDs as well as DVDs and books. And what's more is they're owned by Amazon.com which means that not only can you create your own online store to sell DVDs through your site but your titles will also be available on Amazon.

Is this all too good to be true? Cut out the middle man and sell your videos directly to your audience with no overhead? If anybody has had any experience with https://www.createspace.com please share!
