Plug-ins

I'm looking to find a plug-in program to assist in chroma-keying. Does any one know of one?

After Effects? Works pretty well for me.

Shake is incredible. Higher end visual effects, takes a lot of learning, but the results are far above After Effects.

The trick for keying anything shot on DV is to smooth the green or blue channel prior to keying to avoid that steppiness around the edges we all know and hate. This is because DV footage compresseses some color channels to a much lower resolution than the rest. The result - steppiness.

In Final Cut Pro, apply a 4:1:1 color smoothing filter before keying.
In Shake, isolate and blur the green channel before keying.
Or, shoot in an HD format that has a 4:2:2 or higher color compression.

Hope this helps!

I will try the FCP trick on on the next TDR podcast. Thank you!
