Behind The Scenes Comedy

Posted by Josh Spector

There's a lot of different ways to make your mark in the world of online comedy, but it seems like the key to really standing out (besides being really freakin' funny) is to take a different approach from the kind of material that's already out there. A great example of this is the Patrice Oneal podcast, which launched a couple months ago.

Unlike most video podcasts, each episode of Patrice's show doesn't feature a sketch - it features the making of a sketch. And the behind the scenes antics of Patrice and his crew are consistently more hilarious than most regular sketches you'll ever see. Check it out....

Hilarious stuff. I also think these guys funnymovieinternet are doing some pretty different and interesting stuff. It's definitely expanding the vocabulary.

I have a podcast that has a similar theme. It's called "The Romeo Theater." Each week we present a short movie, and then the director comes on and shares a little bit about the story behind it. They might tell where the idea came from, how they made it, or show some behind the scenes footage.

I'm always looking for new movies to feature on the show, so if anyone here at REELEDin has a movie to share and would like to be a guest on the show, visit the website at http://www.romeo-theater.com and click the 'Submissions' link on the right.
