Up to CrewsTubeMogul To The Rescue?
Ok, so once you've finished creating your latest comedic masterpiece the next question is how do you get it seen by the masses? I'm a big proponent of posting your videos anywhere and everywhere, but I've also got to admit it can be a real pain in the ass to upload a video onto 20 different sites. Finally, somebody's taking steps to remedy that hassle.
Tubemogul has just launched a universal uploader which theoretically allows you to upload your video one time and it will magically appear on seven different video sites (like the Youtube, Myspace, and Revvers of the world). Plus, it also gives you one-stop shopping for tracking your views and assorted other statistics that you use to re-assure yourself of your talent.
Haven't tried the uploader yet myself, but it looks promising. If anybody out there has taken it for a spin already, let us know what you thought of it....
Bring On The South Carolina Parodies
The video of Miss Teen South Carolina's amusing attempt to explain the importance of education is taking the Net by storm as we speak, which means one obvious thing -- the parodies are coming soon. Just like any viral web phenomenon, it won't take long for comedy video makers to try to capitalize on the viralness by creating their own spin off videos. Anybody done one yet? Anybody working on one? Feel free to post a comment with any you've seen or have made....
Dogs Respond To Michael Vick
Today I've got a bit of self-promotion and a question for you Daily Reel Comedy fans. First, check out the latest video from Whip It Out Comedy which features Blerds member Nate Craig going to a dog park to find out how dogs are reacting to the Michael Vick dog fighting news.
Second, a question for those of you that make comedy videos. When you release them, do you always post them in the Comedy category on sites like Youtube? We usually do, but this time we posted it in Pets & Animals and it seems to be MUCH easier to crack the top links/top views/etc. lists in that category than it is in comedy - which in turn drive more views. I guess the question is...do you think it's always the best plan to post your comedy videos in the comedy category or are there better results to be had elsewhere?
Curious to hear what you guys think...
Dirty Jokes W/ Eli The Accountant
For those of you that missed the Daily Reel's meetup/drink fest at Barney's Beanery the other night, you missed a great time - and a great chance to meet tons of content creators, buyers, and freeloading drinkers. One of the people that we finally got the chance to meet in person was the guys behind Doogtoons, whose animated work is often featured on GoPotato.tv. They do great stuff, including this series featuring animated jokes from the one and only Eli the Accountant. Check it out...
Comedy Music Video Friday
Hey everybody, it's Friday and that means it's time to feature another comedy music video here on the Daily Reel Comedy blog. This week, we've got the newest clip from one of the Daily Reel's newest members - Los Angeles based comedian Eric Schwartz (aka Smooth-E) with his take on Lindsay Lohan's driving difficulties. Check it out...
Shortest Comedy Set Ever?
Los Angeles comedian/filmmaker and newcomer to The Daily Reel, Tim Mars recently captured what might have been a historic moment at a standup comedy show in Northridge. The video, which is appropriately grainy given its unexpectedness, features a 36-second standup set - which may be the shortest set in history - from standup comic Brian Swineheart. The clip is good, but the best part might be comedian Chris D'Elia's attempt to follow the 36-second wonder which features some fantastic riffing on what has just occurred.
Dumbbells - Episode #1
Time for a bit of self-promotion as Whip It Out Comedy's newest video release hit the Net today. It's the first episode in a new series called DUMBBELLS, which revolves around a pair of unlikely guys who inherit a gym and become personal trainers by default. The episode features Kyle Kinane (a recent addition to the Daily Reel community), Matt Braunger, and Sherry Sirof. Check it out...
Mugger Training
As you all have surely noticed, the Daily Reel is adding more and more talented comedy video makers every day and we're happy to be able to feature them every once in a while on the Daily Reel Comedy blog. Today, we'd like to feature one of the site's newer members, sketch group Green and Gray, who have churned out a bunch of entertaining videos including this clip which revolves around a mugger who hasn't quite gotten the hang of his new gig. Check it out...
A Closer Look At "Cloverfield"
WhipItOutComedy.com has announced that they will be releasing a brand new video every Wednesday (subscribe to their YouTube channel here), and to kick things off today they released this video which takes a closer look at one of the biggest web phenomenons of the moment - the mysterious JJ Abrams' upcoming movie "Cloverfield."
A Different Kind of "Green" Screen
Is it possible to be funny and try to save the world at the same time? Apparently, based on the clips coming out of Project Phin (aka Los Angeles comedian/sketch actor Mark Phinney) it is. Phin is putting a lot of "energy" into these clips which encourage people to save the planet - or at least clean it up a little. He's also managed to rope in some familiar faces like Ben Affleck, Sarah Silverman, and Jason Biggs to help his cause. Check it out...
