So here's the latest:

Camstream works well on Ubuntu for client stream.

Oggfwd works well on Ubuntu for client stream.

Cheapest available Icecast server is around $12.00/month.

Cheapest embedded system with firewire is about $600.00.

Cheapest satellite uplink is HughesNet, about $60.00/month.

HughesNet won't work with oggfwd, but camstream is o.k.

That leaves streamed audio with stills (fine with me).
