There is an amazing program for those of you that might not have final draft, but even for those who do.

http://www.celtx.com

Here's the description:

Combines full-feature scriptwriting with pre-production support and also enables online collaboration. Mac, Linux and Windows.

You can write a script, import a script, break it down, storyboard, schedule, and there are web services that allow you to back-up your project, share with others to collaborate, and publish you project to be public or private.

The best part is that everything but the web server features are free.

At first glance this ap looks great, Michelle, thanks!

I'm going to go test drive it some more.

Many of my screenwriting students have problems with this, especially with regard to printing. They seem to prefer an add on to Word called, I believe, Simply Screenplay, also free. I use Sophocles, which I can get for half price for my students, making it a steal.

Thanks Charles,

I checked out Simply Screenplay. In fact, when I googled it, I came across a website that offers several free plug-ins.

The macros opened easily within Word, and it seems like it does indeed solve the problem of printing with Celtx.

Thanks!

I used Celtx last year, as part of a make-a-feature-in-48-hours project, because of the ability to share and collaborate. Not the most user-friendly interface, but definitely an intriguing program.
