The Basics
We're all beginners right now.
What is REELEDin?
REELEDin is a community where filmmakers, and their crew members can set up a profile with their reel, called a sheet, discuss online video and help each other get better. The flip side is that major companies, agencies and the like will be able to set up sheets as well, post job listings and browse and hire who they please. You used to have to move to Hollywood for your big break; REELEDin is everywhere.
Who is REELEDin for?
REELEDin is primarily for the online filmmaker who is looking to legitimize his or her content, whether that be learning how to make money off of it, getting it exposed better to the people who matter, or improving the content itself. REELEDin is also for the n00bs to online vid as well, especially those looking to get access to those who know what they’re doing.
How do I sign up for an account?
In the REELEDin sidebar you should find a link to “Create Your Sheet.” After you click here, you’ll be asked to enter some relevant information as well as upload images. Now you have a sheet! Click on “Edit My Sheet” in the sidebar at any time to add or change information.
How do I upload videos?
Once you’re logged in to REELEDin, click on “Edit My Reel” to add your videos. You’ll first be prompted for the file, then a pop-up window with a progress bar will monitor the upload. Once we have the video in our system, it will ask you to add all the relevant info. REMINDER: Since REELEDin is a community for filmmakers, PLEASE TELL US ALL THE TECHIE STUFF! We want to know what camera you used and how you got that crystal clear sound!
What are My Contacts?
Your contacts can be people you work with, people who’s work you respect, friends or just someone you are getting to know. Your top 4 contacts can be chosen by clicking on the “You have _ Contacts” link in your sidebar, and dragging and dropping their picture into the box. These top 4 should be the people you work with, so employers browsing your profile will know how you got that remarkable picture quality and that crisp sound!
How do I find Contacts?
Contacts can be found by clicking the link labeled “Contacts” in the top bar, or by clicking “Search REELEDin” in your sidebar. Another great way to find contacts is by joining crews where you can find those who share your common interests.
What are Crews?
Crews are mini-communities within REELEDin where those with a particular interest can join, and discuss it with those who know it well.
How do I find a Crew?
Crews can be found by clicking the link labeled “Crews” in the top bar, or by clicking “Search REELEDin” in your sidebar. Looking at your contacts’ crews is also a great way to discover new ones.
How do I start a Crew?
Starting a Crew couldn’t be easier. Just go to “Your Crews” by clicking the link in your sidebar labeled “You are in _ Crews.” Below the crews you’re already in, you’ll find a button that says “Start a Crew.” Follow the instructions, and invite your contacts to join the crew by clicking the button on their sheet that says “Invite to your crews,” and selecting the Crew you want to invite them to.
What is the Community Blog?
The Community Blog is a unique feature to REELEDin that walks like a blog but talks like a forum. Anybody can post or comment, and topics are chosen by set tags, which you can use to filter the blog. Posts from Crews also show up here, and are labeled by a purple link to the Crew, and a blue link to the post.
