Backstreet Boys' #1 Fan: Snowball the Dancing Cockatoo
Talent is a funny thing. You can't define it, can't label it -- but you damn well know it when you see it. I'm not saying Snowball the Dancing Cockatoo is any sort of contender for So You Think You Can Ballroom Dance With a Famous Person? But if there was a reality show about birds who like to dance to the Backstreet Boys, Snowball would dominate.

Giraffe vs. Giraffe! No One Wins!
You are right, helpful subtitle -- they do not show us this on the TV. But learning how, exactly, the mighty giraffe might choose to do battle with another, equally mighty, giraffe is extremely good information to have. Short version: it involves hitting each other with their necks. Long version: ...it involves a lot of hitting each other with their necks? But that doesn't make it any less awesome. Please enjoy.

Sparta, Mean Kitty, Blowin' up YouTube
This rap video by popular vlogger Cory "Safety Guy" Williams of SMP Films chronicles the adorably violent adventures of a bite-happy kitty named Sparta. Sparta is a young Egyptian Mau with an appetite for destruction and a penchant for sneak attacks on ankles. He is also super cute, especially when you are watching him from a distance and not one of the people or objects marked for involuntary perforation.
Since the video has gotten a million and a half hits and several thousand new subscribers for SMP Films, proud papa Williams has since posted this, a behind-the-scenes look at how Sparta came into his life. But how Sparta became so bloodthirsty? That, we may never know.

Awww The Otter
We here at TDR don't have a LOT of time on our hands, but what time we do have free is devoted to that most fierce of debates: what animal is the cutest? Some say pugs. Some say small children. Some say prairie dogs. Some say hippos. Some say pugs over and over again (not to name names or anything, Delyle).
But I'm from Northern California, and you know what a NoCal girl loves? Especially a NoCal girl who spent many a formative afternoon at the Monterey Bay Aquarium? That's right, the otter. And once you watch this video, you'll be thinking you grew up among the majestic redwoods yourself. Because this three-week old otter? He floats on his back. He gets his hair done. He PLAYS WITH A RATTLE. Adorable for the win. Sorry, co-workers. Deal with it.

Small Children in Adorable Costumes (Comic-Con 2007)
Some of this footage might look familiar to you podcast viewers, but here it is in all its glory: two minutes of small children at the San Diego Comic-Con, wearing adorable costumes. Behold the panorama of nerdiana: from Pikachu to Incredibles to pirates to Godzilla. It's a labor of love.

Jessica the Hippo: Part of the Family
When you think about adorable animals, do you normally think of the hippo? No. No, you don't. And that's a good thing -- hippos by nature are giant, violent creatures to be avoided (that's what I learned from the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland, anyway).
But Jessica, as captured in this Sky News piece, is different. Jessica, you see, thinks she's people. And the South African family with whom she lives encourages this -- feeding her, massaging her, and even letting her cuddle up on the front porch under a pink blanket.
While hippos are widely considered to be the most dangerous animal in Africa, there are no reliable statistics to support this. Perhaps all these noble beasts need is regular feeding. And neckrubs.

Horus the Cat: A Walking Tour
It's no secret to those who know me that I'm a cat person. At first, I thought that might be why I was so susceptible to the charms of this little romp, a wittily subtitled video of, well, a cat giving a walking tour of his home. A quick share around the TDR offices, however, confirmed that it's not just me -- Horus is, in fact, certifiably adorable. (Though oddly enough, the cats in my life were singularly unimpressed.)
While Horus' charms are undeniably a huge part of the video's appeal, extra points must be awarded for the really outstanding use of Raymond Scott's cartoony classic "Powerhouse" as the boisterous score to the kitty antics.
And the bookcase! Gotta love the bookcase.

A Dramatic Look: 2001 And Other Homages
Turns out that the Dramatic Chimpunk is, in fact, actually a Dramatic Prairie Dog -- and one that has captured the hearts and fancies of about a gazillion YouTube users worldwide. Say you want to see the Parie Dog serenade Eddie Murphy with the theme from The Golden Girls. Well, okay, no judgements -- here you go.
He also gets foiled, gets annihilated, gives David Caruso a run for his money, makes a cameo in a Rick Astley video, and gets caught watching bunny porn (with the soundtrack of Meg Ryan faking an orgasm, no less). But it's his film work that is truly astonishing: Kill Bill, Taxi Driver, and my favorite, the above tribute to 2001. No wonder he won an Oscar.

One Very Dramatic Chipmunk
This has skyrocketed to the top of YouTube's most watched page, and we have no goddamn idea why. All we know is that if you have to ask, then you'll never really understand. Just enjoy.

Dear Britain, Connie Has Talent Too
After Britain's Got Talent's Paul Potts blew us away with "Nessum Dorma," we figured that Britain's talent pools were totally depleted. Oh, how nice it is to be proven wrong. Especially by a six-year-old named Connie, and the Judy Garland classic "Over The Rainbow."
I don't even LIKE this song, but I got a little teary. Whether little Conny has more in her than one verse and chorus of "Over the Rainbow" remains to be seen. But if at 6 she can melt Simon Cowell's heart, the rest of the entertainment industry shouldn't be hard to conquer.

Ach! Nessie Spotted At Last!
The probable existence of the Loch Ness Monster has always been a point of high debate, but this amateur footage, showcased on a local Scottish news broadcast, may just tip the debate towards the side of the believers.
No one is sure whether Nessie is potentially a threat to humans, but innkeepers and bartenders of northern Scotland should prepare for a mass attack from a much more dangerous creature: the tourist.

OH MY GOD GORILLA BREAKS FREE AND GOES ON CRAZY RAMPAGE! RUN!!
Just kidding. While this is in fact a video of the gorilla Bokito's escape from a Dutch zoo on Friday (four people injured, including a woman who suffered a broken arm and a nasty bite due to the brute), it is really quite unremarkable. In this terrible quality video, the beast stands there and then proceeds to... walk away. Good god, run for the hills.
Actually, don't. I think gorillas live in hills. Maybe. They said something about it in Planet Earth, but all I remember is that crazy shark jumping out of the water and eating that seal. All I know is, I wish it were Andy Serkis in a gorilla suit. At least then it might have battled some dinosaurs or something. Stupid wildlife.

The Landlord: OUT-TAKES
An Adorable section has been a long time coming, and what better way to start than with a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most adorable virals of late. People had tons of questions about the making of Internet sensation "The Landlord," but only this video shows the painstaking effort put into the building of performance and character. We salute you, young Pearl -- now officially Adorable.
