Comedians at the Oscars
On a night when Hollywood is at its height and drama at its peak, it is as important to celebrate this year’s talent and achievement as it is to be entertained.
In retrospect, last night’s Oscars seemed to be a rather dull spectacle of showmanship and inside-the-theatre humor. As a host, Ellen was better then expected, though she failed to really maintain energy and interest in the show. So when Will Farrell and Jack Black bust out a tag team tribute to comedians at the Oscars, many sat wondering why the multi-talented jokesters weren’t hosting this year’s ceremony.
Watching this clip again, I still can’t decide which was better, Will Farrell’s hair or John C. Reilly’s high notes. I’d give you the Oscar, Will. Hell, I'd give you your own category. Just promise to never make Anchorman II -- and don't ever take yourself too seriously.

Britney Goes Bald
In light of the tragic death of Anna Nicole Smith and the ghoulish media frenzy that followed, the latest news about Britney Spears' prolonged fall from grace is all the more heartbreaking. Spears wound up at a Sherman Oaks tattoo parlor (mere days after a reported one-day stint at a Bahamas rehab facility) with a shaved head. Ignoring the paparazzi in tow, Britney got a pair of red and pink lips tattooed on her wrist. According to sources inside the establishment, Spears acted "distraught" and "disturbed," not surprising given the severity of her actions.
Looking at this troubling footage, we fear a total breakdown of the singer's psyche is imminent -- our heart goes out to her and her loved ones.

Dixie Chicks Win Five Grammys
Winning Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year, the Dixie Chicks took home the gold in every category for which they were nominated. The countrified pop artists are the first to win album, record and song, since Eric Clapton swept in 1992.
Taking the Long Way Home chronicles the ostracized existence that the Chicks have been living since they alienated a large chunk of their conservative country audience with anti-George Bush remarks. The highly personal and politically powerful album was projected to win several categories, but it was still a bit of a shock to see the Chicks take home three of the “big four” awards.
Here’s a video that sums up the Chicks' undeniable musical prowess and their strong-willed 'tudes.

Anna Nicole Smith, 39, Found Dead
A woman of many ups and downs, Anna Nicole Smith was the Marilyn Monroe of our generation--even in her death. Earlier this afternoon, the former Playmate was found unresponsive in her hotel room in Hollywood, Florida. Pronounced dead upon her arrival to Memorial Regional Hospital, her cause of death is still unknown.
As a new mom who was still in her prime, the news of Anna Nicole's sudden death caught many of us off guard. To lose such a young and well-known personality is a tragedy, yet many are busy placing bets on her autopsy results. Regardless of the cause of her death, I think that it's important to celebrate Anna's life and cultural impact.
Anna Nicole Smith was as a woman of fame and media excess. Known for her folds in Playboy, Anna Nicole was the spokesmodel for TrimSpa and Guess Jeans, and also starred in the high-profile reality program, The Anna Nicole Smith Show. Leaving herself exposed to very public lifestyle, Anna Nicole suffered over a decade of legal problems, controversy, and alleged substance abuse.
To pay tribute to the sex symbol turned reality star, I would like to share this video clip, starring Anna Nicole herself. I think this video of the former Playmate is a perfect example of the excessive and sultry persona that was, and still is, Anna Nicole Smith.
