Volkswagen is Cool, Yah.

When it comes to building cars, the accuracy-driven Germans are spot on. When it comes to dancing, however, their thirst for precision seems to create a sort of anti-rhythm that was previously reserved for tipsy middle aged white men at banquet halls dancing (and singing) along to "Greased Lightning."

It's a good thing engineers don't have to teach cars to dance. Now, that would be terrifying. Yah.

Reyka Vodka: "Geyser"

This charming ad for fancy Icelandic vodka Reyka combines 2-D pencil animation and an adorable spokesperson (Icelandic pop star Hafdis Huld) wearing a very snazzy hat -- which creates an overall effect which can only be described as "Bjork-esque." Except that none of Bjork's videos ever featured a puffin humping a woman's leg.

Dolce & Gabbana Time

When I first saw the title for this ad, I was fully expecting (and, let's face it, hoping) to see a clip of people dancing around and singing "Dolce and Gabbana Time" to the tune of "Peanut Butter Jelly Time." That would have been awesome. Instead, I discovered this gem, in which two pretty people strip down and then put their D & G timepieces into each other's underwear. This is apparently just one in a series of such ads, the first (and most popular) of which was this one, featuring two hunky guys at a party who sneak into a closet together so one guy can take off his watch and slip it into his own underwear -- to the great excitement of the other hunky guy. I don't know. I enjoy a good bit of underwear-related whimsy as much as the next person. But I also think of myself as attractive enough to not need expensive watches for, um, underwear bait.

Get a Mac: "Knocking"

Who would have guessed that this campaign would be so well-received and enduring? Well, probably Phil Morrison, the same person who could sense that John Hodgeman and Justin Long would be deadpan delights. This newest unaired ad isn't the most actively anti-PC of the series, but the visual end gag is nicely executed and Long is once again the epitome of nerd cool. One can only hope that his starring role in Live Free or Die Hard won't mean an end to this series. But if Long proves to be too good for commercials after kicking ass with Bruce Willis, maybe Adam Brody's free?
