Hillary Clinton Believes, SOPRANOS-Style
You know how sometimes you'll think a band is really cool, and you'll be really excited about it? And then you'll be driving your dad or lame co-worker or Presidential candidate somewhere and a song by that band will come on the radio, and your dad or lame co-worker or Presidential candidate will say "Oooh, crank it up, I love this song!" And suddenly that band doesn't seem so cool anymore?
That's kind of the way this new Hillary Clinton video makes me feel about the Sopranos finale, parodies of the Sopranos finale, and online video in general. Filmed to announce the winner of Clinton's official campaign song contest, this awkward homage plays upon all the recognizable elements of David Chase's iconic ending -- without really adding anything beyond an increased terror of Hillary Clinton's improv skills. At least it doesn't actually use Clinton's new official campaign song: Celine Dion's "You and I." When trying to prove how cool you are to the voters, Senator Clinton, invoking Celine Dion is a misstep.
