Beckham Goes American
David Beckham, the most renowned soccer player of his day - primarily for his performance on Manchester United, celebrity antics and Spice Girl wife, rather than his recent athletic prowess - has left the allstar line-up of Real Madrid for a spot on the L.A. Galaxy, which seems a ballsy attempt to raise awareness of soccer in the U.S. Beckham recently signed a $250 million contract to become one of American sports' greatest commodities.
It's hard to believe that a move to Hollywood will be a challenge for Beckham, making it the perfect pre-retirement move to pasture. The big question is, will this make soccer more popular with children over the age of 9 in the U.S.? I postulate the answer for most American folk will be, "Who the hell is David Beckham? Shut up, I'm trying to watch football."
For $250 million we should be sending him to Iraq. Enjoy this hilarious interview with Becks, Posh, and Ali G in a rare pre-marriage, pre-baby appearance with a live audience.
