Gilbert Arenas Last Year's Kobe Bryant

Filed Under:

I don't know what it is about January, but there is something special about this month. Last year we saw Kobe Bryant average 43.4 points including an 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors. This year it's Agent Zero's turn to have an amazing January. Although he's not scoring quite as many as Bryant was last year, he has managed to put up 51 points against the Jazz including the game winner shown here. Certainly shy of 81 points, but an amazing feat when compared to most NBA players who have played the Jazz.

For some reason, Gilbert seems to be on a rampage and, quite frankly, I'm just glad he's not in the same conference as my beloved Lakers. It's not so much that I'm scared the Lakers can't beat them (although they certainly can), it's more that I don't want Kobe to try and compete with Arenas in a scoring contest.

While it's true that Gilbert seems to be last year's Kobe, Kobe seems to be this year's Kobe and the last thing I want is for Bryant to try and show the world that he can still score like he did last season.

Sure, I like it when Kobe scores 51 points, but honestly, I like it more when the Lakers win. And that's why I like this video so much, because it shows some other team relying on a 51 point game from their star in order to get a win over the Jazz.
