Shaun Livingston Dislocating His Knee

Charles Atkinson

I don't really like the Clippers. I don't get them. I'm a die-hard Laker fan and I can't understand why a self-respecting citizen of Los Angeles would root for the Clippers. Clipper fans say it's because their tickets are more affordable, but I can get $10 nosebleed seats to see the Lakers win just like a Clipper fan can spend the same to watch the Clippers lose. Clipper fans say their team is "the people's team." I don't know who these people are, but apparently there aren't very many of them, because from what I can tell, no one goes to their games.

However, this does not mean I'm happy about the recent injuries to Dwayne Wade (separated shoulder) and Shaun Livingston (dislocated knee). While I want the Heat to lose, I certainly don't want it to happen because of injuries (a team chemistry meltdown because of over-sized centers with big egos would have worked just fine). I feel the same way about Livingston's knee, especially because the Clippers are playing so terribly this season even with full health.

Sabres and Senators Brawl

On Thursday, February 22nd, the Sabres and the Senators threw down in one of the biggest brawls I've seen since the introduction of the "third man in" rule -- a rule that ejects the third player entering a fight, designed to prevent bench clearing brawls from occurring.

The ugly melee is the result of a cheap shot by Ottawa's Chris Neil on Buffalo's Chris Drury. A short fight immediately ensued, but it was at the following face-off where the real action began. I'll let the video tell the rest of this grisly story, but pay special attention to the goalies who have a toe-to-toe of their own.

Also, keep an eye out Saturday as these teams square off once again for their 8th and final time this season. While the Sabres will be down eight players for their involvement in the fight, this match up will surely be heated.

Dwight Robbed by Nate in Dunk Contest

Charles Atkinson

The the tall guy discrimination in dunk contests is rampant and I won't stand for it. Granted, the NY Knicks' Nate Robinson had some incredible dunks -- for a short guy, but I'm sorry, his dunks do not compare to those of Orlando Magic PF Dwight Howard.

But the part that bothers me the most is that his 3rd and 4th round dunks sucked. 1st and 2nd round, pretty awesome, but not as good as Howard. Personally, I feel robbed by what we could have seen Howard do, instead being forced to watch what Nate Robinson took several attempts to do.

Well, at least we got to see this gem out of the 7 footer that was denied permission to dunk on a 12 foot hoop by NBA dictator, David Stern. Watch closely to see Howard plastering the upper half of the backboard with a hilarious sticker of his smiling mug.

Petrovicky Beats Down Newbury in Penguins OT Win

Boxing and hockey; the only two major North American sports I know where an athlete can knock someone out with his fists and not get kicked out and/or suspended.

In fact, not only did Petrovicky not get kicked out for sending Toronto Maple Leafs' Kris Newbury out on a stretcher with a concussion, but his Pittsburgh Penguins went out to win in overtime, improving their fourth place Eastern Conference record to 29-17.

Not that half of you care. Admit it -- if you're like a lot of Americans, your idea of watching hockey means you go online and watch the fights, kind of like my idea of Nascar means watching a car flip through the air.

And there seems to be something more exciting about a hockey fight than a boxing match, the same way there is more commotion over a basketbrawl than a fight on the ice, but the ultimate sports rumble would have to be nine-irons swinging in a golf melee. Why? I believe that there is a direct correlation between the inappropriateness of the venue and the attention America gives it.

But I digress, because really, who wants to read about a hockey fight when the video is right here?
