Selanne can finally kiss Stanley
I've decided to make my splash onto The Daily Reel with a fairly unconventional choice: ice hockey. Thing is, we're talking about the Stanley Cup. You know, as in the most famous, most storied trophy in sports. So while the NHL is buried in obscurity these days, the hoisting of the trophy still merits attention and commendation. Teemu Selanne, the Finnish Flash, has played more years in the NHL (15) than the Anaheim Ducks have existed as a franchise -- without ever reaching the promised land. So for him, finally winning the Stanley Cup this Wednesday was an emotional climax.
Fun facts you might like to know about this clip: A) Selanne is fluent in English. B) NBC hockey commentator, Mike Emrick, doesn't speak a lick of Finnish. After watching this, I'm ready to bring back Esperanto. It's about time, damn it!
