Who's Richard Jeni, you might ask? The comedic talent may not seem important to many born after 1985. But for those of us who wore out numerous tapes of old-school HBO Comic Relief specials, Richard Jeni was a staple of the late-80s/early-90s stand-up scene.
Trying to theorize on why Jeni might have chosen to take his life this weekend is too morbid a game for us. In the end, it
boils down to this: dude was funny. Dude is deceased. And it's a shame. So
please enjoy Jeni's take on the female reproductive cycle, from his 2005 HBO special "A Big Steaming
Pile of Me." Like all great comedy, his theory that menstruation equates to a loan shark's monthly ass-kicking has more than a bit of truth to it.

Sheryl,
Richard Jeni committed suicide, Saturday morning, so sad. He was one of the funniest guys I've ever seen. This is one of of his greatest bits. I hope you get it & like it as much as I do.

Today's news has me puzzled. Of all the comics I thought were on "the fringe," Jeni was certainly not on my list. He was hugely funny, and had material about pretty much every subject you can think of. I am saddened by his untimely death, and I hope he is sharing a suite with the likes of Phil Hartman in the comic's section of Heaven. --- "People say I'm the life of the party, 'cuz I tell a joke or two."

Clamato!!!!! Richard was truely a comedic genius! So many get credit for that title...but he was the best. He will be missed!
