Miss USA Takes a Spill
No, that's not a catty comment about former Miss USA Tara Connor and her well-documented run-ins with drugs and alcohol. This is the story of an unfortunate tumble by Miss USA 2007, Rachel Smith, at last night's Miss Universe pageant. Smith was slinking across the stage gracefully when her heel suddenly got caught in the train of her evening gown, tripping her up and sending her crashing onto her well-toned backside.
Now, I like to see beauty queens fall down as much as the next petty person, but give credit where credit's due, because Smith recovered with impressive aplomb -- immediately getting up, moving to her mark, and capping off the eventful walk with a dazzling smile. Her reward? Some well-deserved applause and cheers... and, you know, not winning Miss Universe. Ah, well.

Gloves off, claws out on "The View"
Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck have certainly had their share of spats on "The View," but on Wednesday, things got ugly. What started as a series of wry anti-Bush talking points from Joy Behar devolved into an O'Donnell/Hasselbeck shouting match so intense it nearly drove Behar and guest host Sherri Shepherd off the stage. The root of this particular argument seems to lie not in politics, but in Rosie's hurt feelings over Elisabeth not defending her when Republican pundits spin and distort Rosie's words. Or something. To be honest, they so rarely let each other finish a sentence it's amazing either one ever hears enough to even get into an argument about it. But Alicia Silverstone, at least, has taken sides, as is clear from this segment of the show that aired immediately after the fight. Take note of Elisabeth's hands on her hips as she realizes she's been dissed by the woman who once said, "I think that Clueless was very deep... deep in the way that it was very light." Ouch.

Sarah Connor Chronicles Busts Out
That's right -- the action franchise of our childhoods will be back next season. Set between the events of Terminator 2 and Terminator 3, The Sarah Conner Chronicles follows John and (duh) Sarah Connor as they try to prevent Armageddon, avoid death by futuristic goverment machines, and have some semblance of a normal life. (Good luck with that last one, Connors.) Sure, the dialogue in this trailer seems a little heavy-handed, but the effects look awesome, the action impressive, and more importantly, they have (SPOILER ALERT) Summer Glau as a robot! And she says "Come with me if you want to live!" And she throws a car through the air ... naked! So if all that doesn't please you, I don't know what you want.

Cameron Diaz Lets It All Hang Out
Future celebrities, take note: Low-cut top + low-slung talk show couch = nip slip. That's right, on Tuesday's episode of The Ellen Degeneres Show, Cameron Diaz dropped by to promote Shrek the Third and ended up sharing a little more than intended. Ever the pro, Ellen kept her gaze firmly at Cameron's eye level -- I'd like to have seen Leno or Letterman pull that off -- and Diaz laughed off the incident with a saucy, "Excusez moi!" A word of warning, though: Diaz's Shrek costar Mike Myers appears on "Ellen" today. Here's hoping this isn't the beginning of a cast-wide trend. Or at the very least, here's hoping Myers doesn't show up in a kilt.
