Paul Potts Wows Again In Semi-Finals

Liz Miller
Posted June 15, 2007

When opera sensation (for real) Paul Potts advanced to the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent, based on his tear-enducing performance of "Nessun Dorma," his future prospects depended on him living up to that gold standard. No worries, though: his rendition of "Time to Say Goodbye" during last night's semi-finals is just as flawless and heartfelt.

In case you were wondering, America, the winner of Britain's Got Talent not only wins a cash prize, but will also perform for the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance. So if you ask any of us here at The Daily Reel, if anyone deserves the chance to show Her Majesty his stuff, it's this humble salesman from South Wales.

EDITED SUNDAY: Congratulations, Signore Potts, on your victory! Very well-deserved.

My brother sent me an email about Paul Potts. I think Paul Potts has a marvelous voice and talent. He is a deserving person. I would say he is equal to Pavarotti, Caruso and any of the others in that catagory and I am looking forward to obtaining his CDs or DVDs. Thanks Paul, for sharing your talent. I'm 72 years old and too old to cry; however when I viewed the initial Britain's got talent appearance of Paul Potts, I cried. I am now the proud owner of his first album. For the last three days I have not listened to the radio in my car. Not when I can listen to Paul's CD.

My kids told me about Paul Potts of Britain. I listened to his three appearances on Britains Got Talent and was moved to tears. I only wish that his album had already been released in America, rather than having to wait until July 30 to buy it.

What a wonderful talent Paul has been blessed with. His story is an inspiration. I don't know if Paul really knows just how much he has touched people worldwide.

Thank you,

P.S. My wife and I will be at your concert when you come to Phoenix, Arizona.

Sometimes you find a Gem, is an article I wrote in tribute to Paul. Paul's opera singing style - bel canto - is definitely my favorite style that...quite simply...unabashedly moves me to tears.
I'm just a human being who scourers the world of the Internet, looking for Gems, such as the heroic and rare in humankind.

His name is Paul Potts, and even if you don’t care for Opera, or understand it, his is a name with a voice that is going to set your mind to love, your heart to sing, and your eyes to tears.

bel canto, translates to Beautiful Singing in Italian, but when it's more than that, and makes you want to jump up, and scream...Yes!! You realize you have just heard, something, that makes you want to grab it and hold tight, to express the only two real words that say it all...Well done! It's that most rare of things, a moment of birth, of a new life you can watch grow, and nurture, with a talent you can't match, but a soul you know.

I must admit- I have never thought I liked Opera- I heard about Paul on a local US forum a couple of weeks ago, and cant get this guy and his singing off my mind - I must watch him for a couple of hours each day and have even looked up and heard both Bocelli and Pavarate sing the same songs on YouTube and Paul- has talent, a gift and a wonderful story-- I wish him the best ...
Cheers from the USA
