Wii Love Videos
Whatever, I’m not afraid to admit it: I was one of the people waiting in line to get a Nintendo Wii at midnight the day it came out. I waited for nine hours. Nine. You probably saw me on the news and shook your head incredulously. It was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever done.
But that doesn’t diminish my love for it. If you haven’t heard of this magical contraption, the Wii is the newest gaming console offering from Nintendo, and its revolutionary motion-sensitive-infrared-crazy controller promises to change the way people play and interact with videogames. People can’t get enough of it, and nowhere is that more evident than on the internet, where Wii-related videos have been popping up in droves. Here are my favorite five:
1. Hold On Tight
This extremely cute and well-done animation shows the different ways the controller can be used to play games (as well as one of the major dangers involved).
2. Life of a Mii
One of the most fun things you can do on the Wii is create your own personal avatar, called a Mii, which you can then use in certain games. This video is a look at the process of Mii creation with an existential twist.
3. The Wii Laughing Baby
One of Nintendo’s goals with the Wii was to make a videogame console that would appeal to everyone, not just adolescent boys. The following is some strong evidence that they’ve succeeded.
4. Wii Sex
The conflict between girlfriends and videogames has been going on since the Pac-Man days, but as this video shows, the unique capabilities of the Wii can make things… interesting.
5. The Mii Lebowski
This TDR favorite features a beloved scene from The Big Lebowski as retold by Miis during a game of Wii Bowling.
